chART
ChART Contemporary is a Beijing based curatorial lab dedicated to bringing together art & people. Our overarching goal is to establish cultural bridges between the East and the West through programs and activities that promote contemporary art and culture. We actively maintain an extensive network of artists, architects, designers, collectors, galleries, museums and academics. We are cultural producers fulfilling a global need by creating an open platform for artistic expression through research, education and curatorial integrity.
Art is Our Life & Art is What We Do
We are native New Yorkers with over a decade of experience working between China, Hong Kong and the United States. On the ground and plugged into China's booming contemporary art scene, we organize activities and offer services that educate, stimulate and cultivate a passion and deeper understanding of contemporary art.

I am a trained Sculptor with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Kansas and a strong background in American and European Art History. I caught the 'China bug' in 2004 when Megan lured me over to immerse myself in Beijing's art scene. I am a practicing artist who exhibits internationally and develops art education programs for youth and incentive groups. In addition to spearheading ChART Contemporary's Education initiatives, I acted as the Head of the Art Department at a prestigious International High School in Beijing from 2006- 2011.
Megan Connolly - Director
I graduated from Smith College with a degree in East Asian Studies and a concentration in contemporary art from China. I caught the 'China bug' as a foreign exchange student of Mandarin during the 1990s and have been traveling between the United States and Mainland China for over a decade. Prior to teaming up with my sister to establish ChART Contemporary, I managed a New York gallery specializing in contemporary Chinese art for three years. Since 2003, I have worked as a curator, writer, event consultant, and art advisor. I worked in Hong Kong and New York as a Consultant for Sotheby's in the Contemporary Chinese Art Department and for the Asia Art Archive in Beijing as the China Researcher.

Brazilian Party: SambAsia Beijing

Is China’s one and only community school and performance group of Brazilian samba percussion and dance. The name SAMBASIA is a combination of the word “Samba” and “Asia”, representing two cultures laced together. SambAsia Beijing was established in Beijing in May 2006. At SambAsia Beijing, we hope to build a bridge of communication with Samba beyond boundaries of cultures and ages; spreading joy brought by the music; releasing tension within the body and mind; expanding capacity of body and mind coordination; as we let rhythm and expression bloom within. SambAsia Beijing is an open community group and most of our members are not professionally trained musicians. We welcome everyone to join us regardless of musical experience, and if you like it, if you enjoy it…you are part of the group!
Today, SambAsia Beijing has grown from small group of 15 to a school with almost 100 members. We have performed 300 live performances. In the year 2008, members of SambAsia Beijing were invited to participate in Carnaval of Salvador da Bahia, Brazil.
SambAsia Beijing has collaborated with musicians such as; Cui Jian, Hang Gai, and Pet Conspiracy in the past, and is always open for new opportunities and platforms to share joy of samba in China.

The Great Wall Cup International Youth Tournament is a project held under China Sports Tour aimed at international culture exchange through the beautiful game. In 2011, the tournament welcomed Zico Soccer School from Rio de Janerio of Brazil. 18 delighted youngsters were selected from a social project based on the famous community called "Cidade de Deus" (In English: City of God) made famous by the movie of same name which was a blockbuster hit in 2002.
At The Great Wall Cup, Zico Soccer School were able to show off the Brazilian flair on the football field against several international teams. Relaxing from the football, there was a chance of visiting historical Chinese landmarks: The Great Wall, Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square . The boys also got their hands on with Chinese culture at "China Touch" event - Kung Fu, Opera Mask painting, Chinese Calligraphy and nunchuck skills were all on offer. Several of the boys used this opportunity to mimic a Chinese legend - Bruce Lee .
